June's altered CD for Crafting Corner run by Tracy. Theme is Summer. So I covered a CD with yellow embossed paper, then added yellow & orange inks to the bamboo tiles. The centre of the CD is a sun brass charm. For the 'tail' again more bamboo tiles and wooden beads.

Pin Board

This month's variety swap on Crafting Corner by teddytoo is a pin board. After several attempts and plans A, B and C all going out of the window, this is what I came up with. It's a piece of mountboard covered with self adhesive cork. I have stamped swirls onto th cork and hi-lighted with glitter glue. The bottom half is a printed piece of acetate attached with eyelets to form a pocket. There is also some string over the top part which can be used with paperclips to attach. Then all is mounted onto another piece of mountboard which I have coloured and stamped to give a frame. Ribbon at the top to hang.

Keyring Swap

This month's variety swap on Crafting Corner was to make a keyring. Knowing who mine is going to I thought I would do something that I know she loves, Cats. Top image is stamped onto a metal oval with another CI stamp and a cat charm added onto the bottom.
The other side has been covered with UTEE and another metal charm embedded into it while it was still molten and a sprinkling of glitter embossing powder in red and green just to add some interest.

I hope she likes it :o))

one side of the bookmark for a swap on Crafting Corner, thanks Bagpuss. I have coloured my card with distress inks. Painted over a thin clear PVA glue, stamped onto tissue. While the glue was wet stuck on the tissue then coated again with the same PVA glue. I like the way the colour comes through but very subtly. Heat embossed a few butterflies and trees at the bottom.
Other side of the bookmark I have used mostly Crafty Individuals stamps from the Ephemera collection throughout.
Top of the bookmark which I have beaded.

Bling Book - Back cover

Christmas decorations

Amongst everything that has been happening I have done a small contribution towards Christmas. These are beaded baubles made into hanging Christmas Decorations. They are attached to a willow circle sprayed one gold and one silver and the appropriate colour baubles attached in a spiral fashion. The large pink one I won in a raffle so I beaded that and put it in the centre.

3 70th Birthday Cards

Here are three cards I have made for my Aunt's 70th Birthday this month. This top one is an 8" x 8" card. The 70 is cut out of glitter card and 'dangled' with some jump rings. The front, below is done with Happy Birthday cut out on the Cricut and prima flowers added and gem brads in the middle.

The one above is a 'Penny Spinner Card' which I thought would be a bit of a novelty for her

This last one is done using the Arty Farty Poppy template and two put together so it opens as a double card. Again the 70 is dangling using jump rings.

Canvas

I had a pack of 3 canvas' and didn't know what to do with them. While at the craft fayre I saw several bits and pieces of fabric, silk tubes and some molded shapes.

I created a 3 canvas picture with them. First I stapled the background fabric to the base and then cut and frayed the next layer then stapled that on top of the base fabric.

I used the silk rolls, various threads and textures to create as sea bed scene and added some small shells I found. I used a bit of liquid pearls to highlight different elements on the base fabric

Not so long this time

Recently I did a 10 day craft show which was great fun. I would have made a decent profit if there hadn't been so many talented crafters there who 'forced' me to spend my money!!!

Anyway, while there I knitted myself a short jacket with hand spun and hand dyed wool. I am rather proud of myself as I haven't knitted since the kids were little.

I also did these two pictures in box frames and embellished them. The top one is a dreamcatcher embellished with feathers and beads and the bottom one is a 'flapper' who has been coated in glossy accents and faux gems.

Dolphin Picture

I love this image, even without decoupage it looks as if it is coming at you.

I have put it in a box frame from Tesco!!! I used the 'frame' that came with it and coloured it using brilliance ink pads in shades of blue. Decoupaged 5 layers so that the dolphins are coming over the inner frame and a bit of glitter glue just to hi-light the splashes of water.

50th Birthday Card

This is a card I made for a friend who is now 50 - hahaha

I made an A4 size card 'cause I thought I would rub it in a bit! It is done with 3 backing papers I had in a kit from C & C. The first one is stuck to the card and the other two have been cut into to decoupage the fairy and butterflies.

The letters and words were cut on the Cricut in pink glitter card and black card and, the pink laid slightly off centre to create a shadow effect.

Glitter glue added to bring a bit of bling and ribbons at the top.

I know, how naughty am I, 2 months and no blog entry!!! Hangs head in shame.

I have been busy making soap recently. I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed doing it and my hands are lovely and soft. :O))

First picture on the left shows a rectangle with lavender flowers and scent and the other one is a heart shape (although not clear) with rose petals and fragrance

the next one shows opaque soap, one fraganced with Lavender and one with blue cornflower petals and wild orchid essence

This one is shell shaped soaps moulded into clear soap, fragranced with and ocean breeze aroma and a clear soap with blue cornflower petals

Another heart shaped soap layered with red and white opaque compound

Last but not least, 2 clear bars of soap, one with random opaque soap dropped into it (I really like this effect) and another clear soap with more seashell soaps inside.

I was so pleased the way these came out I thought I would share them with you.

There is a Rainbow Swap each month on the forum, this month the colours are Black and White.

I love the monochrome images.

The Retro Ladies are a sheet on unmounted stamps I indulged in from Tanda. I just love them.

They have been stamped in black Versamark an clear embossed then masked and stamped again with various background stamps. I am really pleased with the effect.

The cherry one is stamped on black card with clear ink and embossed with white powder and the butterfly is a positive and negative image.

Desk Tidies

Here's my latest creation!

My daughter's office at work has recently been painted so she wanted some desk tidies to cheer her desk up.

I did these with beer mats and mountboard. The smallest one is for her paperclips made with a beer mat cut in half and mountboard base, the middle one is beer mats and mountboard base for note paper for phone messages, and the largest one is for pens etc. made from mountboard and the top shaped the same as the beer mats.

The paper I have done by brayering ink onto a Sizzix texture plate and the run through my Big Shot and the fishes added at her request.

Wedding Anniversary Card

I kept it simple and used white pearl card and die cut the frame, hearts and letters. Added White Liquid Pearl to the numbers and letters and faux pearls to embellish and a little iridescent glitter to edge

Chocolate Biscuit Tin

My daughter bought this tin home from work, unfortunately empty! I loved the black images on the top so rather than cover the whole tin I just hi-lighted them with glitter glue. Decorated the edges with ribbon and hand made punched flowers from an X-cut punch and the top flowers were made with a Sizzix Bigz die, cutting lots of layers from different papers and vellum. Added ribbons and fibres.

My daughter bought these for me from a charity shop. She wanted one as a gift for someone so I decorated them both so she had a choice.

Altered Tin

This was a plain gold coloured tin my Husband bought from Tesco. It contained Christmas Candles but they had been reduced. He bought 4! He figured I could do 'something' with them lol.

I coloured the tin using Alcohol inks and silver mixative. Added ribbon around the side of the lid and base of the tin. Die cut large flowers and punched out lots of small ones to decorate and used a large brad in the centre of the big flower, added bows.

I think it's turned out ok. Just got to find a use for it now!!!!!

Altered Domino Key Ring

My first altered keyring.

I was sent a gorgeous domino keyring for my birthday plus a couple of blank ones to alter for myself.

My first attempt. I have colured it using alcohol inks and silver mixative and stamped a rose bud image and coloured in the buds using permanent pen with a contrasting colour.

I am really pleased with my first effort.

Final Frog

This one is simply done by stamping my image on some 'water' printed vellum. Again coloured in with Sakura Gel pens. The image was also stamped on white atc as a background under the vellum and attached with brads.

I think it has come out quite effectively even though it is very simple to do.

I must make more of an effort to remember to post here more regularly. Trouble is I forget to take photos before I send my swaps etc. off. MUST DO BETTER!!!!

These are 3 of my ATC's for a swap on Crafting corner forum. The theme is frogs.

This one has been stamped onto a sheet of fantasy film and coloured in with Sakura Gel pens. The edge is done with a glue stick to get an uneaven surface and gold embossing powder then heated to melt.

Another Valentine Card

This is a card a friend asked me to make for his wife. He wanted something special.

The picture on the left is the card in the box I made, I actually managed to get the aperture in the right place !!! Decorated it with hearts covered with gilding flakes.

The picture below is the card itself. Printed rose vellum as a background mounted on gold mirri card. The heart in the middle is made of 3 hearts I cut in different sizes and layered using foam pads. The roses were then cut and glued in between the layers.

Words were printed on the computer on vellum.

Valentine Card

This the the valentines card I made for my Other Half. the picture has come out quite orange but it should be red!!

Vellum printed with roses down the sides, and the heart is done with triple embossing in gold and copper with the cats image stamped in.

Keepsake box

This was made for a friends daughters birthday. The box was cut out of mountboard and covered with papers from a kit I bought from Create and Craft. I then cut the characters from matching papers and layered them to give a 3D effect, added a bit of glitter and coated the images on all sides and lit with glossy accents.

The box is bound together with ribbons through holes punched with my BIA. The lettering at the bottom has been cut from shrink plastic on the Big Shot then shrunk and coloured. More ribbons and fibres have been added as extra embellishments.

I am very pleased with the overall project.

New House card

A card made for a forum friend who is currently moving house. I cut the front into a 'house' shape. I have used off cuts of wood veneer in blue for the roof, window shutters and door and wood coloured veneer for the sills, step etc. Using cut up line peel-offs for hinges and small gold brads a handles. Stamped small flowers and leaves around the door and window added a key and lock brads.

I was pleased with the result. The wood was difficult to cut as it kept splitting, but I got there in the end.

Fat Page, ATC and Tag

First time I have tried one of these for a swap. I think they turned out ok.

Background coloured with Shabby Shutters distress inks and stamped with feather stamps from Tanda. The Peacock again is a Tanda Stamp stamped into gold and bronze UTEE while hot. This is a technique I love doing. The edges are coloured using gold embossing powder and ribbons added.

Ikea Box

This is a box I bought from Ikea. In its original state it was just plain wood. I sanded it down and painted with diluted pale blue emulsion. Then stamped some flowers on it and coloured them in with H2O's. Added a few gem butterflies and there you have it.

It was part of a present for a friend. Her favourite colour is blue. She loved it as she has lots of nick-nacks and is a perfect storage solution for her.

Me and my Friends Book

This is a little book I made for my friend for her birthday. I used a board book I purchased from a charity shop (waste not want not!)

Covered in papers printed off the PC.

The metal tags have been stamped with black stazon and SeeDee's stamps of pawprints on it.

The next two pages have again been stamped with SeeDee's stamps and embossed to add dimension. The photograph is one that was taken at Crufts a couple of years ago showing the Judge on the left and Prince Michael of Kent looking at my friend and her dog.

First Fat Pages

First attempt at Fat Page

Here is my first attempt at a Fat Page swap. Plain white card coloured with distress inks, tea stain and scattered straw. Stamped with unknown floral stamp and coloured with Ecoline water colours. The sleeping rabbit is an Anitas stamp on triple embossed mountboard using gold and copper embossing powders

The background for this one side is the same colours. Stamped again with an Anita's stamp and coloured with Ecoline water colours. Same triple embossed mountboard with another Anita's stamp of rabbits.

Multi ATC

Warholish ATC

I was messing about with my new alcohol inks and photo paper and decided to make an ATC in the style of Andy Warhol when he did his Monroe picture. Mine is similar ish!

I only have 3 colours at the moment Cranberry, Eggplant and Lettuce, hopefully get some more soon.

The stamped image is one I have made using my Imagepac.

February Calendar Page

While I was doing January, I thought I would get February done at the same time. Using Valentines day as my Feb. theme I cut out various hearts and sentiments from scraps of papers I had left over. The hearts I edged in gilding flakes - I love using these.

The main image is a House Mouse stamp which I think is soooo cute. The hearts again are covered in gilding flakes, I painted the mice with H2O's and Sakura Gelly roll pens for the other small bits. The picture has been matted onto gold mirri card.

Calendar Page

January 2009

Nothing like forward planning lol.

On the forum which I belong to we have a project for this year. Twelve of us make a calendar page for next year. At the end of the year, the calendars are bound and we each have a 2009 calendar with a different page made by a forum member. Thanks to Karen for such a good Idea.

This is my effort for January. Not too sure about it after seeing what other members have done, mine is totally different!!!!! I have coloured the background with Tim Holts Shabby Shutters distress inks. Stamped with Linda Lukin tree stamps and embossed over them. The 'snow' is white acrylic paint and the moon is stamped with the lid off a pot with clear embossing ink and embossed with white embossing powder. The glittery snow effect - although the camera hasn't picked it up too well, is splattered diluted PVA and silver glittery embossing powder sprinkled on while wet and heated. I have also used a light spray of Moonglow sprizers to add a touch of iridescence.

More Tesco Note Pads

Two more notepads from Tesco. The same principal applied as the other one. Both were covered with DCWV papers. The embellishments are double sided peel offs. I have never got on with these very well but decided to give them another go! This time I used gilding flakes on them and they turned out really well, so I think I will use the flakes on them in the future, glitter always falls off when I use it on them!

Centres of the flowers and butterfly and the outlines on the left one have been done using Sakura Gelly Roll pens. Again Ribbons added down the spine.

Tesco Note Pads

While in the mood for altering, my other half bought me some Tesco Value note pads. These are A6 size.

I unwound the spiral binding on the sides and covered the back and front card covers.

This one has been done in Once Upon a Time papers. The flowers are Kay&Co.

Ribbons added to to binding once I had re-wound it all again.

These are 35p note pads I bought with the intention of altering them. They had no cover and no holes punched. So I made the covers from thick card and decorated them with DCWV papers. The flowers on the left are from Tanda Stamps and the lady on the right is an unknown stamp from eBay. Words were stamped on them and adhesive ribbons added. Other ribbons added on the binding at the top done with my BIA. Both images were stamped twice, once on the cover and once on vellum. Coloured in with Sakura Gelly Roll Pens and the vellum then stuck down over the top.

I was quite pleased with the results

Bits and Bobs Boxes

These are three boxes I made to keep my bits and bobs in.

This one on the left if for my pens, pencils etc.

They are all made from mountboard squares covered with DCWV paper and holes punched with my Bind it All. Ribbons either threaded or tied in little knots. I have edged all the sides of the mountboards with my silver Krylon pen.

This one is for keeping glue sticks, bottles of PVA and rulers in

This one is for brushes, scissors etc.

I was quite pleased with the results

Mini Book

This is a mini book for a swap on a great forum - Crafting Corner. We had to choose the contents to depict one of our favourite crafting activities. For the most part I have done stamping. The whole book has been done on mountboard and bound together using a fantastic piece of equipment a Bind It All.

The letters have been cut on my Big Shot using the lollipop alphabet out of mountboard. This has been coloured and stamped using an Anita's flower stamp then triple embossed with clear embossing powder.

These two pages have again been coloured using Alcohol inks. The foxglove stamp is from Tanda. The swirl is from Wendie Rhodes and the flowers from Joanna Sheen. I have used Jazz Beadazzles in the centre of the flowers and glossy accents to hi-lite the swirl and birds.

These are two stamps I made with my Imagepac - I only had it at Christmas but I think they turned out quite well for first attempts. I stamped them onto distressed paper and singed the edges.

Stamps on the left are from Joanna Sheen web site. The centre of the frame has been hi-lighted with glossy accents and the corners have been stamped again, cut out and mounted on foam pads to give depth. The page on the right has been done the same way.

This is the back cover. Stamped with a background stamp from Tanda Stamps, the sentiment is from Joanna Sheen and the flowers have been cut from vellum using a Cuttlebug embossing stencil and coloured.

An Old Tobacco Tin

This is an old tobacco tin from when my dad used to smoke his pipe. I cleaned it all up first and then used Alcohol Inks (Tim Holtz) to colour the tin itself. Not very clear but they are red and aubergine. The metal flowers and brads I have had for a long time and also coloured them with alcohol inks and a bit of glitter and a piece of raffia to finish it off.

Ferrero Rocher

This was a ferrero Rocher box once. I realised that is was begging to be altered. I covered it with hand made paper again stuck on with diluted PVA glue and coated with the same solution. I made some wire swirly things and some self adhesive sequins.

Altered Glass Vase

Altered Vase

This was a clear glass vase and I decided that I needed to brighten it up a bit. I used handmade silk paper, ripped it into bits and stuck it on with a diluted solution of pva glue and water. I had some dried/pressed flowers from Joanna Sheen and stuck them on with pva then coated the whole lot with another diluted solution. Trimmed off the excess top and bottom of the vase. I am very pleased with the result and have lots of compliments off friends unfortunately it hasn't photographed too well.

My first attempt at a blog, scary or what!!!!
I am an avid crafter and attempt most things, some successfully some not.

I live in Devon with my Husband, daughter, father and dogs. My son has moved away and now lives in the midlands. My daughter is an avid fish keeper having constructed 2 large ponds in the garden and her dad is in the process of building a shed for her to keep all her bits and bobs in.

I love crafting of most sorts but at the moment am enjoying altering anything I can get my hands on and will stay still long enough - the dogs are very worried.
